ABOUT

I am a writer, editor, journalist and communications and engagement professional.

I completed a BFA in writing at the University of Victoria in 2006, and went on to work as a senior acquisition editor and a literary award juror, presenter, lecturer and manuscript consultant specializing in picture books and young adult/teen fiction.

In May 2013, I completed a MA in writing from the University of British Columbia, where I wrote a collection of creative non-fiction stories and was fortunate to have had some of Canada’s finest writers as both professors and mentors. One of my stories “Don’t Look Back” was a finalist in the Writers’ Union of Canada Short Prose Competition.

I began a career with the B.C. Provincial government as a communications and engagement specialist in 2012. Over the past 10+ years, I’ve worked on a wide variety of portfolios with the BC Public Service Agency, the BC Pension Corporation, the Ministry of Forests, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner/Office of the Registrar of Lobbyists, the BC Wildfire Service and, most recently, the Ministry of Citizens’ Services.
